WEEK 1 (25th - 29th Oct)

   Our Phase 1 Teaching Practice began on 25th October 2022 and the school allotted to me was Abraham Memorial Higher Secondary School, Thirumala. We a group of five student teachers; Shilpa Krishnan.B, Parvathi.S, Arathy. R P, Archana Mohan and Joshy J Polackan, joined the school on the same date and we were completely new to the school and its environment.

   The first day was just about introducing us, we mingle with the students and knowing them. The classes given to me were VIII E (girls) and IX D (boys) and my in-charge teacher is Ms. Ambili Vinod. She is indeed a supportive person as well the owner of a kind heart, she cheered me up and gave all regards for my new classrooms.

   From the second day onwards, we had begun to teach the students with their respective chapters. 'Climate Change Is Not Hysteria It's a Fact ' a speech by renowned Hollywood Actor Leonardo Di Caprio, is the chapter that I taught to the 9th standard students and 'The Sower' a poem by Victor Marie Hugo was the chapter that I took for the 8th standard students. Within the 1-week time I was able to complete the poem in the 8th std and took a half portion in the 9th. 

   Talking about the classes, girls' class was calmer than the boys but there are similar gems in both the classrooms. The latter is more interested in games and mainly football, they also play well during their PT hours. But both of them are special to me since it is the first batch I ever teach. 

 

Classroom management was the most challenging part when it comes to teaching practice and struggled a lot and applied different strategies to manage them. In movies we could see children who remain highly attentive and silent during the classroom lectures, but in reality, it takes much effort from the teachers as well as students to make them transform to such a class.

COLLEGE UNION AND ART'S CLUB INAUGURATION

         The College Union and Art's Club Inauguration of our batch 2021-23 was conducted on 17th June 2022. The college union is name "Tathva" and the art's club is named "Rang De". The programme was organized by the novel union members and the student teachers of the batch. College Union Inauguration was done by Dr. Raju Narayana Swami IAS, Principal Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Department, Government of Kerala. And the Arts Club Rang De was Inaugurated by Sri. Achu Suganth, famous serial artist.        After the formal function, vibrant cultural programmes were arranged by the student teachers of batches 2020-22 and 2021-23. WEEK 11 (23rd- 27th Jan)

  This week was the most crucial week. During this week I had completed the portions of both the classes and gave them notes too. Devika Ma'am came for our observation during the same week. Afterwards I had conducted the diagnostic test and achievement test accordingly in my 8 E class. Then I had conducted Innovativd Work on Phrasal Verbs in the class. As the part of m Innovative Work,  I gave them notes regarding the ten Phrasal Verbs and their meanings. Then on the next day I split the entire class into five groups. And they were pictures which were associated with the meanings of Phrasal Verbs. At first I made them identify the Phrasal Verb with the picture and later they were asked to construct sentences with the phrasal verbs.
